October Update

I’m a few days late but here’s my October photo & measurement update.

Starting Weight: 172.2

Last Month’s Weight: 168.6

Current Weight: 164.6

Monthly Loss: -4 lbs

Total Loss: -7.6 lbs

Not feeling super excited about the teeeensy change I see…Guess I need to kick it up a notch.  I think I am fooling myself on birthdays and “special occasions” that a little splurge won’t hurt much.  It may not hurt, but it’s definitely slowed my progress I think.  Food is always my downfall.  Slightly discouraged, but moving forward.  Have to drop this fat!


Killed It

Good morning!  I’m riding high over here today for a few different reasons…

1) Despite taking last week off from the gym, I still managed to lose an entire pound for a change! (165.6 down to 164.6)  You’ll have to take my word for it because I didn’t get a picture this time.

2) Upon waking this morning, I turned off my alarm and rolled back over.  SERIOUSLY considered just going back to sleep, but I overcame that lazy voice and I got my ass in gear and returned to the gym this morning.  Best decision ever.  I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and then worked chest, shoulders, and triceps – my arms are j-e-l-l-o right now.  Seriously having trouble typing!  Oh yeah, and I did all those exercises – bench press, chest flies, dumbell press, tricep extensions, etc. IN THE FREE WEIGHT AREA aka the place where all the big burly men hang out.  God heard my prayer and there were only two other people hanging out over there today.  Broke me in easy 😉

I call that a huge success.  The old me would have just gone back to sleep.  Not this time!

Tomorrow is leg day:  Glutes, quads, hamstrings & calves.  Looking forward to not being able to walk 🙂  Stretch city here I come!  I also think I need to get a foam roller.  I haven’t done that in the past, but I hear it works wonders for sore, tight muscles, and I plan on having those!


Better Late and Slow Than Never and Not At All

I didn’t make it to the ol’ blog Friday to report the weigh in results.  Sometimes life just happens and this place takes a back seat.  Never the less, we had a good weekend and I DID weigh in Friday.

Down .8 of a pound.  Sloooooooower than I want to lose, but I’m losing.  It’s almost monthly check in time, so we’ll see how measurements and pictures have changed soon.

We had a fun weekend, and I did have a little treat on Sunday morning before we hit the park, but otherwise it’s been on point.

Whoop Whoop!

I’m feeling good today after stepping on the scale this morning and seeing a loss!  It’s slow, but it’s happening and I WILL reach my goal!

166.4  Down from 167.8 last weigh in.  I’ll take 1.4 pounds.  Especially after the less than desirable diet last week.  Going grocery shopping tonight & have a whole two weeks of healthy & clean meals planned!  The fact that I’m excited about this makes me feel slightly old 🙂

Push it!


This is what I have to keep telling myself day by day. When I get discouraged, I think of where I started. When I originally started this journey, I was only doing cardio and not counting calories. I would eat whatever I wanted but would stop when I was full. I did this for about three months, then began watching what I was eating & tried being a little bit healthier on the foods I was choosing. After another month, I decided to add in some weights by starting a 30 minute circuit of weights and cardio and was starting to count calories at a goal of 1600 per day. I then switched it up again and did more intense weight workouts at home along with my cardio. Now, I have increased cardio & the amount of exercises I do with the weights & have decreased calories to 1400.

In summary, I started at only cardio, not counting calories & eating what I wanted to cardio plus weights, decreased calories by at least  200 per day and eating WAY cleaner than I used to.

It’s a hard battle to keep fighting in with yourself, this weight loss war. But, I’ve only gotten stronger & thinner! I’m sure it will still take me quite some time to get to where I need to be, but I’ll do it eventually!! Small gains and losses are always huge when it comes to weight loss and I try to remember that when I start feeling down on myself. 🙂

Today was a great day. For breakfast I had overnight oats. Lunch was hummus, cucumbers and tomatoes on top of one slice of honey wheat bread and some organic cheeze-it type crackers. Dinner was a chipless taco salad that consisted of lean ground beef, green bell pepper, red onions, fat free sour cream, reduced fat Mexican cheese, salsa and black beans all on top of a huge mound of spring mix lettuce. So yummy!!!!!! After I had an apple with peanut butter and, of course, my quest bar after the weight session. I almost didn’t eat the quest bar because in wasn’t hungry, but really wanted the extra  protein. It was still only 1500 calories total for today and my goal is  1400 calories even for the days I don’t exercise. So proud and hoping I can push through like this all next month for my no cheats!!!!

Well guys, I’m exhausted so I’m hurting the sheets. Please just remember, never give up!!!! Keep pushing yourself to go. You won’t see results every day, but I promise as the weeks go by you will find yourself improving by so much more than you realize! I had a bad week last week and look at what I found out tonight after my day plus a nice, relaxing bath


Boom! More weight lost! Let’s do this guys! You can do this & so can I!


I’ve had a really bad week this week. Like, really baaaaaaaaad. I’ve had McDonald’s & Burger King breakfast this week & Taco Bell and Chick-fil-A for lunch. Then 3 slices of greasy, cheesy pizza last night for dinner. So yeah, I’ve been really bad.

I’ve also not worked out at all this week.

My son had to get shots on Tuesday, the somehow from Monday night to Tuesday around lunch developed pink eye. So, I’ve stayed home from work & took care of this sick kid all week, which made it hard for me to go to the gym.


See? I’m sick.

I could have eaten a lot better and I was dreading the scale this morning. BUT, praise God! I didn’t gain any this week! I didn’t lose but I’m glad my slip up didn’t undo any hard work. And, because of all this bad eating, I woke up this morning feeling sick to my stomach and actually CRAVING something healthy. I won’t be making it to the gym this evening but I’m only having about 1200 calories and if I do add some more for snacks, I won’t go over my goal. I had to force myself to eat anything this morning, which is why I kept it simple with a banana, peanut butter & some orange juice.

Side note: our Kroger was remodeled & just opened back up. And all I can say is HOLY SHIT. It is HUGE and so nice. I will never go to Publix again. I was in the store for over an hour yesterday and had to make myself leave in fear that I would spend over my grocery budget but ended up spending $80 less! Had I gone to Publix, all of it would have been gone. I also love than they have a section dedicated to health which has items like PB2, Almond butter, organic snacks and fruit/veggies. I was so happy! I didn’t even get to look at everything bc I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the stuff they carried. We will definitely be going back this weekend to grab a few things I forgot & see what they have that I looked over.

Thing I was out excited for? Avocados….. 4 for $5!!!! Yessssssssssss.
