Hi everyone! I’m so behind…thank you kidney stone. And, no, there’s still no sign of it passing yet, but thankfully he hasn’t been in horrible pain yet either. I guess it’s just making it’s home in there and camping out.
I’m going to make this short & sweet and run through these quickly since I have 4 days to catch up on!

Happy Thursday! You’ll have to forgive my absence yesterday. Hubby J woke up in terrible pain from a kidney stone and I spent my day with him at Urgent Care and then waiting on his drugged up self the rest of the day! I only have a moment today – dropped him off at the doctor and only have an hour or so until I have to pick him up. Pain meds make it difficult to drive 😉
So continuing with my photo a day challenge…Yesterday’s Day 13 & Today’s Day 14.
Day 13: Favorite Breakfast idea

Day 14: Favorite Snack Idea:
I’m not a huge snacker. Especially since the Whole30 began, snacking isn’t encouraged. Before I started it I would usually just grab a handful of almonds or a banana if I was really hungry in between meals. God forbid if there are cookies in the house because I would pick a cookie every time over anything else

I was originally going to start today, but we shopped over the weekend and I figured, ‘why wait?’. So, I started on Sunday instead. I did my beginning weight & measurements with pictures, but I think I’ll save them for the end when I can do side by sides.
I’ll be honest, I’m feeling pretty lethargic today. I’ve read up about the “Carb Flu”, and I’m probably experiencing a few symptoms of that. Lethargy and a slight headache are definitely hanging on. Hopefully it will pass in the next few days. Looking forward to feeling amazing again!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Ours was fun, and now The Toddler has a little cold. He’s a little dramatic & whiny, but that’s to be expected I guess!

I’ve been playing around with my workouts lately. I pretty much never do the same thing twice as far as strength training goes, but I wanted to see what really made me feel it the most. So, last week I did all of my weight training on the gym machines and this week, I’ve done all my weight training in the free weight area using dumbbells and the weight bars. I tried to keep the exercises I did basically the same between the machines and the free weights. Last week, I was mildly sore after my workouts, but I recovered quickly and it didn’t bother me much at all. Today is a different story! Leg day was Tuesday. It’s Thursday and I still can’t sit on the toilet without slowly lowering myself. A handicapped bar would be helpful. So. Much. Pain. In conclusion, training with the free weights is definitely better for me. I feel like I get more bang for my buck even if I have to fight the meatheads to get in there 😉
In food related news, I feel like I need a reboot. Something drastic to kickstart my body into dropping the pounds. I’ve been at this for threeish months now and I’ve only lost 8 pounds. I know that I can do better – I’ve done it before! I’ve spent some time researching cleanses/reboots/jumpstart diet programs and I’ve found one that I think will be best for me. It’s called The Whole 30, and you basically cut grains, sugars, dairy and artificial sweeteners from your diet for 30 days. What I like about it is they don’t ask you to buy their plan, or pay for recipes. There is a book that I may eventually read, but it’s not required to follow the plan. They provide a free shopping list and a meal planning template to help you plan your food and there is a Facebook page and a forum if you need extra help. I’m planning on starting this plan on Monday 10/21 (even though I’ve sort of “tested” the rules as much as I can since I read about the plan). The one thing I’m going to TRY my best to follow is the “no weighing/measuring yourself after Day 1 until Day 30”. They also don’t recommend counting calories or tracking as long as you’re following the rules.
This may be my favorite paragraph on the entire website. I think I’ll paste it on my refrigerator as a reminder.
It is not hard. Don’t you dare tell us this is hard. Quitting heroin is hard. Beating cancer is hard. Drinking your coffee black. Is. Not. Hard. You won’t get any coddling, and you won’t get any sympathy for your “struggles”. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE not to complete the program as written. It’s only thirty days, and it’s for the most important health cause on earth – the only physical body you will ever have in this lifetime.

Good morning everyone!
I’ve got a few really good recipes to share today. I’ve been really trying out all sorts of new recipes lately and The Hubs is loving it. He said I can never stop and go back to the same old thing over and over like we used to do!
The first is a mexican tortilla pizza that I got here. We all loved it, I left out the onions because none of us are really crazy about them.
The second we had last night, Maple Mustard Chicken Thighs. So yummy. The Hubs LOVED this chicken. It will definitely be making a repeat appearance on our dinner table. I didn’t get a picture of it because we scarfed it down so fast!
I haven’t had the best exercise week this week, but that’s ok. I have walked and will again today, but the gym has been a stranger the past few mornings. I don’t know what’s up with my sleep cycle but it has been terrible. I’ve been waking up several times a night and having a hard time going back to sleep, couple that with some crazy dreams and when my alarm goes off at 5:15, my first thought is “f-this”. Sorry I’m human! Hopefully I can get this sleep thing under control soon – I have a feeling it’s related to that terrible time of the month (I feel like I’m always talking about this – why must it come so often?!), so we shall see.

Super excited about my food this week! I picked up my first organic produce bag last night and here are the spoils:
The Toddler grabbed an apple before I could put everything away and took a huge bite out of it. Of course I had to let him eat it then. I was surprised to take a bite of it myself and find that it was AMAZING! I’ve never bought organic apples before, but let me tell you I will be buying them now. It was the best tasting, sweetest, crispiest apple I’ve ever tasted. Sooo good! I know some people think its a ploy by the organic farms to say that the organic foods taste so much better, but THEY DO! As an added bonus, I don’t have to worry about my family eating pesticides for dinner. Worth every penny.
In other food news, I went to GNC and picked up a few Quest Bars to try. These are the flavors I got:
My first thought: They taste good, but I’m not keen on the texture or the slight aftertaste. I haven’t tried them all yet, but so far the cookie dough is my favorite. Still have to try the banana one. I know they’re the best for you bars and they only have 1g of sugar, but (especially in the cinnamon roll flavor) they’re almost TOO sweet. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve cut back on sugar or what, but I could hardly eat the cinnamon roll flavor it was so sweet. Not to mention they’re f-ing expensive! My GNC was selling these for $2.99 a piece with a buy 3 – get one free special. Yikes. So, I’ll probably be sticking to my occasional Lara Bar and getting protein the good ol’ fashioned way: in my food. Maaaaybe every now and then, a protein shake.
